Laminate Bow

  • Prerequisite:None
  • Duration:3 days
  • Cost:£325

Our laminate bow class focuses on the more modern approach to bow making. These bows rather than being made from one piece of wood are constructed by gluing strips of timber together. There are many combinations of wood that can and have been used in laminate bow making. Bamboo, hickory, yew, purple heart, osage, ipe are but to name a few which can result in a beautiful contrasting bow.

The advantage of making a laminate bow is that there is less potential for problems in the timber. This means that it is easier to train the bow to bend evenly, thus developing your eye in tillering which is a great way, to ease the student into the art of bow making.

Each student will be guided through step by step in making their bow; from timber selection, to gluing up a stave and tillering their stave into a beautiful D bow.

This is a self-catered class, tea and coffee provided.

Camping available, free of charge and for those who prefer a little more comfort there are a variety of local B&Bs.
