Flint knapping and Stone Tools

Prerequisite - Native Skills 1
Cost - £200
This class will be focused on the importance of stone. Students will gain the skill and experience of reducing a bolder of flint down to a useful tool such as hand axe, adze, arrow head, scraper etc. Other methods of working stone will also be covered, such as pecking, to give an understanding of how to produce stone mallets, hammers, bowls etc.
Some of the skills covered;
Hard hammer percussion
Soft hammer percussion
Pressure flaking
Blade production
Spalling
Pecking
Stone selection
