Brain Tanning
3 Days
Prerequisite - None
Cost - £200
This intensive class is to turn a fresh, fleshy and hairy deer hide into beautiful soft velvety buckskin. The wet scrape method of brain tanning will be taught as well as learning how to create and work rawhide. This class will pass on a greater understanding of buckskin and will cover many varying methods of tanning and different softening agents (brains, eggs, soap and oil etc) and at the end of the three days the students will have a piece of leather ready to be created into something memorable.
